Opting to bowl first, the Sixers were unable to pick a wicket in the first four overs of the contest as openers Mitchell Owen and Matthew Wade helped the Hurricanes to get off to a good start.
However, Jackson Bird’s four-fer, giving away just 16 runs got the travellers back into the game and restricted the Hurricanes for 161 in their 20 overs.
Chasing a par total, the Moises Henriques-led side never got going and lost three wickets in the first five overs.
The turfs made their competition debut in January when they were used during the Hockey World Cup in Oman.
Henriques and Jordan Silk tried to rebuild the innings, but were nowhere close and the side were eventually bowled out for just 111 in 19.3 overs.
Jordan picked up three wickets, while Waqar Salamkheil and Billy Stantake bagged to each, with Riley Meredith, Chaudhary and Peter Hatzoglou also making the sheet with a wicket each.
